Loos and Company Medical Technologies Division manufactures ELASTICORE® medical extrusion core wire as a replacement for the copper and clad copper products currently available to medical tubing extruders. ELASTICORE® will help reduce the cost of R&D and production by reducing minimum purchase requirements, decreasing lead times, and eliminating the potential for clad material contamination in both the braiding/coiling operations and the extrusion process.
ELASTICORE® wire can help you achieve a reduction in overall cost. Silver clad and tin clad copper tends to be more expensive than the stainless steel our ELASTICORE® wire is made out of. We can provide small minimum runs of material, even for custom sizes! ELASTICORE® is proven to eliminate the potential of contamination, which is common with silver clad or tin clad copper. Being composed of two separate metals, silver and copper or tin and copper, bi-metallics increase the potential of flaking. Flaking leads to debris within the tubing and damaged equipment or tooling. As stainless steel is a solid material, we have found that ELASTICORE® eliminates any potential for flaking.
ELASTICORE® is available in various diameters ranging from 0.006” to 0.100” in either a bright or matte finish. In addition, our core wire has an elongation profile that exceeds 30% and deforms similar to copper.
